The admiration of specialist critics and the affection of audiences confirm Enrique Bagaría as one of the leading names on today's piano scene. He earned his Higher Diploma in Piano at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona and continued his training at the École Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot in Paris with Aquilles Delle Vigne, at the Conservatori del Liceu with Stanislav Pochekin and at the Reina Sofía School in Madrid with Dimitri Bashkirov, Galina Eguiazarova and Claudio Martínez Mehner. He also took masterclasses with masters such as Alicia de Larrocha, Elisso Virsaladze and Boris Petrushansky.
Throughout his career he has received numerous awards, most notably first prize at the 52nd Maria Canals International Competition (Barcelona, 2006). He is a regular presence in venues such as the Palau de la Música and L'Auditori in Barcelona, the National Auditorium of Madrid and the St. Petersburg Philharmonia, and has collaborated with orchestras such as the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, the Wiener KammerOrchester and most of the Spanish ones, under conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Vasily Petrenko and Víctor Pablo Pérez.
In chamber music he forms a duo with violinists Josep Colomé and Aitzol Iturriagagoitia, and is a member of the Cervelló Trio. With Colomé, Joaquín Riquelme and David Apellániz he makes up the Brahms Project, with which he has recorded the complete Brahms piano quartets for the Eudora label. He teaches at the Liceu Higher Conservatory of Music in Barcelona and has recently joined the Esmuc.
