Born in Barcelona in 1989, Ignasi Cambra is one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation. Blind since childhood, he began his studies at the age of six at the Barcelona School of Music with Maria Lluïsa Alegre and Albert Attenelle, and went on to train at the Juilliard School with Jerome Lowenthal and Matti Raekallio, at Indiana University and at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He has also received guidance from Maria João Pires and completed an Executive MBA at IESE.
Acclaimed by Valery Gergiev as someone able to speak to him through the piano, he has performed in halls such as Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw, the Kennedy Center, the Ravinia Festival and the Mariinsky Theatre, and in Spain at the Palau de la Música Catalana and L'Auditori in Barcelona, with orchestras such as the symphonies of Barcelona, Miami, Vancouver and the Mariinsky. In 2023 he released his album Spaces for Sony Classical, with works by Schubert and Chopin.
