With a sweet and pure sound (The Strad), violinist Josep Colomé brings to the fore a wealth of nuance and changes of character that make the score transcend and reach the listener. Born in Sabadell in 1979, he is a regular at festivals such as the Torroella de Montgrí International Festival and the San Sebastián Musical Fortnight, at the philharmonic societies of Zaragoza, Valencia, A Coruña, Ourense, Lugo and Pontevedra, at the Palau de la Música Catalana and L'Auditori in Barcelona, and in concert halls in Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ecuador, Cuba, Belgium, the United States, France, Germany, Poland and the Netherlands.
He recorded Pau Casals's sonata for violin and piano and the album El violí invisible on a 1711 ex-Tartini Stradivari, a performance the Revista Musical Catalana described as refined and elegant, with a deep sonority full of subtleties drawn out with great beauty. He has also recorded Johannes Brahms's sonatas for violin and piano and the piano quartets with The Brahms Project for the Eudora label, a new benchmark recording according to Crescendo Magazine.
He graduated at the age of eighteen with the Extraordinary Prizes of the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona and furthered his training at the Freiburg Musikhochschule with Nicolás Chumachenco and in Chicago with Shmuel Ashkenasi and the Vermeer Quartet. A prizewinner at the Amadeo Roldán (Havana), Germans Claret, Mendelssohn Wettbewerb (Berlin) and Guadamora (Córdoba) competitions, he has worked with conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Neville Marriner, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Augustin Dumay and Heinz Holliger. He taught violin at the Aragón Higher Conservatory of Music (2015–2023) and is the creator of the Eviolin_Action project. He performs regularly in recital with pianist Enrique Bagaría.
