A recital for violin and piano around the figure of Pablo Sarasate, with works by the Navarrese composer himself —including an unpublished prelude from his autograph manuscript— alongside pieces by Saint-Saëns, Lalo, Dubois and Chopin. Performed by violinist Ana María Valderrama and pianist Luis del Valle. Released by Musica Illustrata in 2016.

Stradivari violin «Boissier-Sarasate» («The red one»)

One of the two Stradivariuses that belonged to Pablo Sarasate, who acquired it in 1888. Nicknamed «The red one» for the colour of its varnish and in exceptional condition, it belongs to the golden age of the Cremonese maker. The violinist himself hardly played it —«it lets itself be adored but never yields», he used to say—; here, at last, it sounds under the bow of Ana María Valderrama.
